New directions in Change-Making
Happy Earth Day! As you’ve undoubtedly heard a million times before, “Earth Day is every day.” And at ECM that’s certainly the case.
That’s why today is a great day to highlight change-making projects that you can be a part of. Today and every day!
Summer Solstice Local Foods Gala: Save the date for Saturday evening June 21. ECM’s Advisory Circle is cooking up a very special event you won’t want to miss!
GMO-Free L.A. initiative: Things should be heating up again soon. Volunteers are welcomed, to circulate petitions, reach out to other organizations, and help let politicians hear our collective voice.
Food gardening: Volunteers are welcome and needed at the Community Garden at Holy Nativity at “garden Thursdays” each week (roughly 4pm-6pm). We’re considering adding a weekend gardening time too (perhaps Sunday mornings 7am-9am — what do you think?)
Resilient local businesses: Joanne is working on a new project to help small businesses reach “beyond green” into the ideas of resilience, Permaculture, and the Transition movement. It will build on her previous work at www.ResilientEconomy.net to focus in on small businesses and What You Can Do. Further details coming soon!
Garden classes: We’re poised to take ECM garden classes “on the road” to locations throughout L.A. Watch the ECM calendar in coming weeks, particularly if you live in areas beyond Westchester.
Want to get more involved? Come to the “garden party” Thurs Apr 24 (approx 6:30pm, Classroom 2 at Holy Nativity, bring a potluck snack or munchie to share.) It’s a great time to tap into the action and chat with Joanne about new projects and changes YOU’d like to set in motion!
